Yes, this crisis will pass, but nobody will be the same after it. Life is definitely being revised by the majority and inevitably leading to many reflections. The COVID-19 will leave a legacy many apprenticeships, especially in the labor market. But what will really change?
What changes are related to the speed with which we will have to adhere to what we already have, for example, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, gamification, machine learning, recruitment and selection processes carried out by Apps, distance learning, and the never so spoken home office?
The Future Trend in The Post-COVID-19 Job Market
Remote Recruitment and Selection perhaps is the most progressive Human Resources subsystem that has developed the most from the point of view of the use of technology. Today there are companies and even applications that seek to make the perfect match between candidate and company. It is proposing that the candidate find the ideal company based on their own values and that the company does exactly the same. Distance selection interviews are already a reality, as well as the use of video calls and other features that can shorten distances and save time with face-to-face interviews.
What should change even when the topic is recruitment and selection is related to the vacancies available and qualifications of the candidates. If before the scenario due to COVID-19 we were already experiencing a real talent blackout, now we will have even more difficulties to find people who have the necessary skills for the new reality.
Productive Home Office
The Human Resources area needs to adapt quickly to the needs imposed by the pandemic. The Home Office became an overnight reality, but the legislation hasn’t changed. People who had never worked remotely before now need to adapt quickly so that they can continue doing their work in a productive and healthy way. For almost half a year, it was found that it is possible to work from home and continue to be productive, which reduces fixed costs for organizations and large displacements that waste precious hours.
People Need to Be Trained and Developed
Especially for the Training & Development area, there is an even greater need to take care of the people and businesses that will return from this quarantine to another world. The development of new skills from the point of view of job execution includes time management, the use of available technologies to optimize work and communication, but that is not all. It is necessary to take care of human development in an integral way, and this implies the development of socio-emotional competencies in addition to finding ways for people to remain physically active even when they are at home. The training will be critical for both the known hard skills as well as soft skills.
Today we have tools available for distance training that allow interventions as if everyone were gathered in the same environment. We have a unique opportunity generated by this global scenario, we will reinvent ourselves, discover new ways of doing our work, and be even more creative. And, more than ever, designing learning solutions with the human being at the center of the process.
Technology in Our Favor
Technology can and should be used in favor of professionals and organizations. And it will be stronger and stronger. The first step is to ensure that people have the connectivity to work remotely. This includes both infrastructure and access to systems that are part of your job. It is also necessary to ensure the security of information and at the same time be agile to put everything to work. The more integrated these tools are, the more productive the work of the entire team will be.
Features That Enhance Emotional Balance
Although we are surrounded by devices, this does not mean that people know how to make use of everything we have available to be productive. It is also this excess of technology that contributes to further increase stress levels. Something that is already high due to the current moment and what is to come! It is necessary to offer resources for people to improve their emotional balance.
Emotional balance is the ability of the mind and body to maintain stability and flexibility in the midst of change. We all experience negative thoughts and emotions at times, but maintaining a neutral and balanced posture is what keeps us in control.
The challenge will be to be open to experiencing all these trends. After all, we will no longer have time to resist, since the change will not happen gradually, but driven by the contingency that we are going through.
